Nano-lubricants have gained popularity in recent decades due to their superior tribological properties, including reduced wear and friction. However, the development of stable nano-lubricants with a homogeneous nanoparticle suspension is a significant challenge. Therefore, in this present work, TiO 2 nanoparticles were added to commercial SN lubricating oil, and the tribological properties of nanolubricant were analysed by using plain oil and lubricating oil with large Titania (TiO 2 ) additives. To measure wear, a confocal microscope was used to detect the wear in the ball specimens to study topography, wear scar diameter, depth of wear, and angle of wear. It was discovered that the gear oil containing titanium nanoparticles has better resistant qualities. The gear oil added with TiO 2 resulted in a significant reduction in wear scar diameter, wear angle, and wear depth. The study reports on the implementation of a novel technological approach to analyse the tribological properties of lubricating oil by determining the wear scar diameter, wear angle, and wear depth.
