Abstract

This paper reported NIR heat reflective performance of the epoxy based paint that formulate using RE (RE = Dy, Mn, Ce, Dy/Fe) doped ZnAl 2 O 4 white / color pigment which has been synthesized by two different techniques such as combustion method and solid –state method. Further phase purity and crystallite size pigments has been confirmed by XRD techniques. From SEM analysis microcrystalline surface morphology of the pigment has been clearly observed. From the Diffuse reflectance spectra NIR heat reflective performance of the prepared epoxy based paint using RE doped ZnAl 2 O 4 white or colour pigment, has been successfully monitored by coating it on glass surface which exhibits good NIR reflectance. From, the different RE doped host, ZnAl 2 O 4 :Dy pigment shows high NIR reflectance as compared to other, which was used in paint formulation. Hence, prepared RE doped ZnAl 2 O 4 pigment may find promising scope as a whitish or color pigment for cool coating application.
