Background Chronic airway diseases (CADs) impose substantial health burdens due to poor medication adherence, inhaler misuse, and insufficient disease knowledge, which compromise disease control. Understanding patients' pharmaceutical care needs is critical to improving chronic respiratory disease management. Method A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 131 CADs patients attending a pharmaceutical outpatient clinic at a tertiary hospital in Fujian Province, China, from June to August 2024. Data were collected on patients' care priorities, communication preferences, service satisfaction, and influencing factors. Results Patients prioritized medication guidance (74.81%), disease knowledge (65.65%), and self-management skills (58.02%). Face-to-face communication (77.86%) and concise information delivery (54.96%) were preferred. Despite high satisfaction (90.08%), 54.20% held misconceptions about medication safety (e.g., accepting occasional dose skipping). Physician referrals drove service utilization (90.08%), with minimal influence from external channels like social media. Conclusion Pharmaceutical services for CADs patients should integrate technical support (e.g., inhaler training), patient education, family engagement, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Optimizing service models, enhancing public awareness, and securing policy support are essential to advancing precision pharmaceutical care.
