Polychronicity and monochronicity are natural tendencies or preferences for structuring time that influence individuals' behaviors, performance, and well-being. This study investigated the impact of individual time orientation (polychronicity vs. monochronicity) on user interface (UI) design preferences and user experience. Two main goals were pursued: (1) to explore how polychronicity and monochronicity, as personality traits, affect user preferences for various UI elements, and (2) to assess how time-oriented UI design affects user satisfaction, perceived usability, and ease of use. In phase 1, 100 participants were observed based on their time orientation and design preferences through various interface elements, creating two tailored interfaces—one for polychronic users and another for monochronic users. In phase 2, 60 participants tested these interfaces. Findings revealed that monochrons prefer simple, organized interfaces, while polychrons prefer structured, interactive layouts. Time-oriented personalized interfaces significantly enhanced user satisfaction, perceived usability, and ease of use, providing key insights for personalized UI design in Human-Computer Interaction.
