Alcohol is the most well-known toxic substance, and its negative impact on human health and lifestyle is well-documented. Chronic alcoholism is a pathological condition that occurs as a result of excessive alcohol consumption and is most commonly observed in young and middle-aged men. In our study, changes in the left ventricular myocardium due to alcohol consumption were investigated in 70 individuals who died at home under suspicious circumstances and whose bodies were sent to the State Statistical Office "Kyiv City Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination" to determine the cause of death. In 64.3% of cases, a high level of ethyl glucuronide was found in the blood, indicating alcohol consumption within 96 hours prior to death. Heart lesions were represented by dilated cardiomyopathy and myocardial fibrosis.
