India’s traditional medical systems, such as Siddha and Ayurveda, continue to play a vital role in the health practices of many, especially in the context of preventive care and long-term wellness. While much attention has been given to those who do not use these systems, there is limited research focused on individuals who actively engage with traditional medicine. This study aims to understand the perceptions of young adults (aged 18 to 33) who use traditional medicine, exploring how they view its effectiveness, safety, accessibility, and its role in promoting overall health. Using a cross-sectional survey approach, data were collected through online questionnaires circulated via Google Forms. The sample includes participants from both urban (North and West Chennai) and rural regions (Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpattu), allowing for a broader understanding of how location influences attitudes. The study investigates user’s experiences with traditional practices, their trust in these systems, and their thoughts on integrating traditional and modern healthcare. Findings from the study offer meaningful insights into why traditional medicine remains relevant among certain segments of youth, highlighting areas of strength such as perceived preventive benefits and trust in historical use, as well as areas needing improvement like accessibility and professional guidance. These insights can help shape more inclusive health strategies, encourage evidence-based integration, and support traditional medicine’s continued relevance in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
