Abstract

The growing demand for marine exploration, driven by the search for oil, natural gas, and biodiversity studies, has significantly increased interest in advanced underwater robotic systems. This paper presents a novel bio-inspired remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) designed to mimic the agility and maneuverability of whales. The proposed system is optimized for applications in marine reserves, environmental monitoring, and fish species identification. Comprehensive mechanical design and mathematical modeling of the vehicle are provided, along with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI)-based computer vision techniques using the YOLO model for high-accuracy fish detection and classification. The results demonstrate the potential of the proposed ROV to enhance marine research and conservation efforts.
