Abstract

In 2024, unprecedented outbreaks of dengue virus (DENV) and Oropouche virus (OROV) were reported in Latin America and the Caribbean. We describe a case of co-infection with DENV serotype 3 and OROV imported into Portugal from Cuba. RT-PCR and next-generation sequencing confirmed the presence of both viruses in a 35-year-old male patient. Our findings highlight the importance of comprehensive multi-arbovirus diagnostics, particularly in travelers from regions experiencing concurrent outbreaks.
