Abstract

This experimental and numerical study is centered on assessing the Charpy impact test toughness of API 5L X70 steel, widely employed in the construction of pipelines. The analysis considers two primary parameters: temperature and the notch bottom. Employing response surfaces enables a systematic approach to comprehending the impact of these factors on steel's resistance. The experimental and numerical findings are crucial for refining pipeline design through the optimization of temperature conditions and notch bottom. This contributes significantly to enhancing the reliability and durability of metallic structures in diverse environmental conditions.
