Abstract

This paper proposes a rotary electromagnetic launcher based on the principle of reconnection electromagnetic launch, which employs electromagnetic force to rotate and accelerate the device. After the acceleration is completed, the projectile is released, which can be shot out in the tangential direction. Compared with traditional reconnection electromagnetic launcher, it offers several advantages such as reusable armature, smaller multi-stage acceleration, and improved coil utilization. Firstly, the structure, working principle, and theoretical analysis of the rotary electromagnetic launcher were introduced; Afterwards, finite element analysis was used to simulate the rotary electromagnetic launcher, and the influence of trigger angle, number of armature teeth, and coil connection method on the acceleration effect was studied; Finally, an experimental platform was established for relevant experiments, which shed light on the effect of trigger angle on the acceleration effect of the rotary electromagnetic launcher.
