Abstract

The influence of the US macroeconomy on the Australian macroeconomy is revisited in detail. In particular, the Australian real GDP, unemployment rate, the 10-year government bond yield and the interbank overnight cash rate are investigated in the light of the US economy. Moreover, the stress testing scenarios released annually by the US Federal Reserve are also employed to determine the robustness of the Australian economy under a hypothetical severely adverse scenario in the US economy.
