Background: Limited evidence exists regarding the benefits of interventions for community-dwelling older adults with osteoporosis in China. Aims: This study aims to evaluate the effects of a multidisciplinary team intervention program on this population. Methods: This study was conducted in two large regional communities in Chengdu, China. Participants aged ≥60 years and diagnosed with osteoporosis were included. A total of 114 eligible participants were assigned to receive either a 6-month multidisciplinary team intervention or routine intervention from May 2023 until December 2023. Data were collected at the beginning of the study and at 3 and 6 months thereafter. The primary outcomes were self-management behavior, knowledge, self-efficacy, nutrition, depression, and activities of daily living (ADLs). Paired t tests or nonparametric double correlation tests were used for comparisons before and after the intervention in the same group. After intervention, the differences between the two groups before and after intervention were compared and analyzed. Results: A total of 101 participants completed the intervention program and follow-up. There were statistically significant between-group differences in self-management behavior, knowledge, nutrition, ADLs and depression after the intervention. There were statistically significant differences in self-management behavior, knowledge, self-efficacy, nutrition, ADLs and depression in the intervention groups. There were statistically significant differences in self-management behavior, knowledge, self-efficacy and ADLs in the control group.
