This research is conducted to evaluate the importance of safety training in dangerous environments as well as influence on diverse demographic groups within the marine workforce through a pre and post training assessments conducted on safety training in an offshore petroleum services company. The objective of the pre and post training assessments is to measure the improvement of safety knowledge of marine crews in accordance with their demographic criteria, including different age groups, job titles, and experience levels. Nevertheless, determining the necessity for the customized safety programs for various worker segments is the primary objective. Pre-and post-training assessments are applied as a means of assessing the participants comprehension of safety measures and the personnel’s competencies. The results show that after the training, the participants’ knowledge has become significantly more profound, compared to the pre-training level, particularly for the participants in the operation-related positions. These variations are determined through analysing the results, concerning specific categories postulating a considerably greater acquisition in knowledge compared to the others. Training efficacy variations are identified, based on the obtained results, which are presented within specific categories. However, employees who are less experienced have demonstrated a more positive attitude towards the training and assessments. In a sense, these findings underscore the need to design or customize the training programs in order to meet the specific needs of all categories of the marine workforce for the sake of improving the efficiency of the training intervention as indicated above. Maritime training improvements can decrease the incident rates in the industry and can achieve more consistent impact by enhancing these procedures and data.
