The protection of architectural heritage faces many challenges in the process of modernization, and traditional methods are unable to effectively address complex restoration needs. To raise the accuracy and efficiency of architectural heritage protection, a digital design method for architectural heritage protection based on 3D reconstruction technology is proposed. This method uses multi-source data acquisition, clustering algorithm, and Kalman filter for data processing, and combines YOLOv5 for object detection to generate an accurate digital model of architectural heritage. The outcomes denote that the raised model performs better than other models in signal-to-noise ratio and information ambiguity. The signal-to-noise ratio reaches 0.98 when the dataset size is 800. In processing time, the proposed model has processing times of 55ms and 75ms for building types A and B, respectively. The Intersection over Union value for building type C reaches 0.97, and the Structure Invariance Loss is only 0.02. The findings of the research suggest that the proposed method enhances the digital precision of architectural heritage while also optimizing data processing efficiency in the restoration and protection process. This suggests a high degree of practical application value.
