Abstract

This paper proposes an analytical calculation method of the ground-site visibility from a satellite for a cone field based on the geometric analysis of the sensor, satellite, and ground-site. First, a novel field mapping is proposed, which is a two-dimensional map composed of the true anomaly of the satellite and the right ascension of the ground site to describe the relative motion of the satellite and ground site. Then, the field mapping generation is studied based on several key points determination methods. Furthermore, the visibility problem of calculating visible intervals is transformed into the intersection problem of a group of parallel lines and field mapping bound, which can be solved rapidly via the proposed numerical method. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective.
