Design and Structural Analysis of a 1U-CubeSat Structure using AA-6061

The design and structural analysis of 1U Cubesat structure based upon the Cubesat standard were carried out in this project. The structure is designed for student satellite ‘Sahara Sat’ and maximum flexibility in the design process is followed. A suitable high strength aluminium alloy AA-6061 as per the CubeSat standard is selected for investigation of the structure under design loads. The CAD model was made using SOLIDWORKS 2021 CAD software and subject to Modal Analysis, Random Vibration Analysis, Static Structural Analysis and Buckling Analysis using ANSYS 2023 R1 Student FE analysis software. The natural frequencies for ten modes were estimated using modal analysis. Three sigma directional deformations were found using Random Vibration Analysis. The results for total deformation and Von Mises stress and Von Mises strain for Static Structural and Buckling Analysis were also performed. The data was analysed to study the space readiness of the structure.
