Abstract

Background Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming progresivelly important in health sciences. It is therefore indispensable to assess health science students’ views, attitudes, awareness, knowledge, literacy and anxiety levels related to AI. Aims This study aims to evaluate the AI literacy levels and AI anxiety levels of undergraduate audiology students and, additionally to evaluate the relationship between AI literacy and AI anxiety. Method A correlational research was designed. 231 undergraduate audiology students were enrolled in this research. The research data was collected through Artificial Intelligence Literacy Scale (AILS) and Artficial Intelligence Anxiety Scale (AIAS). Results The AILS score was 39.49±5.50, and AIAS was 46.13±12.31. Although correlations were found among various sub-dimensions, and between total scores and sub-dimensions of AILS and AIAS in audiology undergraduate students, there was no relationship between the total scores of AIAS and AILS (p < 0.05). Conclusion It is possible to assert that as awareness and usage sub-dimensions of artificial intelligence literacy increases, artificial intelligence anxiety decreases. Therefore, it can be suggested to increase artificial intelligence literacy levels and reduce artificial intelligence anxiety levels by including artificial intelligence training in the audiology curriculum.
