Abstract

Background The present work aims to evaluate the relationship between exposure to the use ofinhibitors selective reception in serotonin and episodes of bruxism of sleep. Results 303 individuals participated in the sample. The presence of bruxism, diagnosed by PSG examination it was detected in 112 participants (37.0%). As for participants with presence of bruxism, 30.4% were using SSRI medications with a prevalence ratio of 1.05 (IC 95%: 0.73–1.50) in comparison to the what no use that medicine. The most prevalent SSRI antidepressants were Escitalopram (23.8%), followed by Fluoxetine (22.9%) and Duloxetine (12.4%). Conclusion Sleep bruxism was more present in the group of individuals who used SSRI antidepressants. Furthermore, socioeconomic characteristics such as not performing activity paid It is to receive any less in five salary minimums they were associates to the diagnosis of sleep bruxism.
