Abstract

The design and analysis of skyscrapers are critical endeavors in modern structural engineering, especially considering the challenges posed by lateral loads such as wind and seismic forces. One innovative solution to enhance the structural performance of tall buildings is the incorporation of outrigger systems, particularly the K-style outrigger belt truss system, along with coupled shear walls. This paper presents a Study of the analysis, design, and performance evaluation of skyscrapers utilizing the K-style outrigger belt truss system in conjunction with continuous shear walls under lateral loads. In this work, skyscrapers using two different models one with a K-style outrigger continuous shear wall and the other with a K-style outrigger belt truss system are compared. Both models are subjected to linear dynamic analysis that is Response Spectrum Method with ETABS software, and the K-style outrigger belt truss system is further analyzed using non-linear dynamic analysis that is Time History Analysis to assess its performance under more extreme loading conditions. The continuous shear wall model combines continuous vertical walls with the K-style outrigger system in an effort to increase rigidity and load distribution capabilities. The K-style outrigger belt truss system includes strategically placed horizontal trusses in a K-pattern, connecting the building's core to its perimeter columns. A single outrigger structure's outriggers are positioned at four different heights: 0.20H, 0.40H, 0.60H, and 0.80H, and The double outrigger positions are as follows: 0.20H + 0.40H, 0.40H + 0.60H, 0.60H + 0.80H, and 0.80H + 1.00H. where H is the building's overall height. The analysis has been done considering zone-III. The Results of Base shear and lateral displacement will be assessed in each K-style outrigger Belt Truss Building and continues shear wall Building with each other and for K-Style Outrigger Belt Truss System Building Time History of Three Earthquakes is assessed by graphs of Time Period and Story Displacement.
