Abstract

A Series of coumarin based thiazole derivatives of ethyl 2 imino 4 methyl − 3 (2-(2({2-OXO,4 Substituted)-2 H chromene 7-yl)oxy)acetamido)thiazolidine 5-carboxylate (5a-m) were synthesized by the reaction between resorcinol and ethyl acetate to form coumarin derivatives. Further by reacting with substituted aldehydes formed coumarin based thiazole derivatives. The compounds were characterized by TLC, IR, NMR and mass spectrometry and synthesized compounds were carried out antimicrobial and urinary tract anti-infective activities. Among the series of compounds 5l, 5g showed good antibacterial activity and 5m and 5e showed moderate antibacterial activity and series of compounds 5l, 5e and 5g showed excellent antifungal activity. The compounds 5l, 5e and 5g were found active against Gram positive bacteria i.e. Staphylococcus Aureus at concentration of (2µg/ml). The compounds 5m, 5e and 5g were found active against Gram negative bacteria i.e. Escherichia Coli at concentration of (2µg/ml). The compound 5l, 5e and 5g showed excellent antifungal activity against Candida Albicans and Aspergillus Niger at concentration of (4 µg/ml).
