Scientific studies on the relationship between vitamin D levels and inflammatory markers in children are scarce today. The aim of this study is to compare the relationship of vitamin D level with inflammatory marker - IL-6 in children with COVID-19 (PCR positive) and its role in the clinical development of the disease. The examination included 90 children aged 1 to 17 years. The test for SARS-CoV-2 virus RNA was positive in the pathological material from the nasopharynx in 75 patients. The control group consisted of 15 healthy children. Examination methods included anamnestic, clinical, instrumental and laboratory studies. During the study, the level of vitamin D was assessed according to two parameters: the degree of vitamin D and the diagnosis of COVID-19. In both groups, the level of the inflammatory marker IL-6 was assessed. As a result, COVID-19 disease in children, as well as vitamin D levels were considered as factors that play an important role in the change of IL-6 level.
