Nowadays, landfill gases (LFGs) such as methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2) and nonmethane organic compounds (NMOCs) have been considered as the main source of greenhouse gases made by human. Herein, due to the importance, LFGs emission and the energy generation potential of an uncontrolled landfill site, located in Kermanshah, was estimated using LandGEM (3.02) from 2024-2054. In this work electric power generation capacity was estimated by calculating annual production of electric energy (kWh/year) generated for methane emissions from the beginning of landfilling to the end of designed period (30 years). The results indicated that CH4, CO2, and NMOCs emitted from the landfill will peak in 2055 with values of 2.2E+04, 6.0E+04 and 9.4E+02 Mg/year, respectively. The waste production of 285.4 million kg/day is able to provide about 8.8E+07 kWh energy, which will be 0.36% of energy consumption in Kermanshah city in 2054. The results demonstrate a significant energy potential and are very promising. Further, it was estimated that maximum total electricity production of 8.9E+07 kWh will be attained in 2055.
