This study explores the characteristics and experiences of first-generation college students in Saudi Arabia, addressing a gap in the literature on this demographic within the context of Saudi higher education. Historically, the Alhejaz region (Mecca Province) enjoyed privileged access to educational institutions, while other regions faced significant barriers. Since the founding of Saudi Arabia in 1932 and the subsequent educational reforms, access to higher education has expanded significantly, with 37 public and 29 private institutions now operating across the nation's 13 provinces. This expansion has allowed students from previously underserved regions to pursue higher education, leading to a rising population of first-generation college students. By examining the demographic characteristics, geographical backgrounds, and aspirations of first-generation students, this quantitative study aims to provide an understanding of First-generation College Students in Saudi Arabia.
