Abstract

This study examines the application of Hybrid Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (HRRIS) and Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) to improve security and efficiency in edge computing environments, particularly against eavesdropping threats for multiple users. By simulating an edge computing scenario with multiple users, edge servers, and an eavesdropper, assessed the effects of various HRRIS and RIS configurations on data rates, secrecy rates, and offloading latency. The findings reveal that dynamically adjusting the phase shifts of these intelligent surfaces can substantially enhance secrecy rates and reduce latency, thereby providing a robust solution to secure data transmission and improve performance in edge computing systems
