Objective To analyze the research status, hotspots, and development trends in the field of frozen shoulder in recent 10 years. Methods The literature included in the core collection of the Web of Science database from January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2023 was retrieved. VOSViewer and CiteSpace software were used to visually analyze the publication year, country/region, journal, institution, author, literature co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence of the literature. Results A total of 631 literatures were retrieved, and the number of publications entered a rapid growth stage in the past 5 years. South Korea, the United States and China are the three countries with the largest number of publications. Keimyung University in South Korea is the most prolific institution. The Journal Of Shoulder And Elbow Surgery is the most popular journal in the field, accounting for 7.92% of publications, as well as the most cited journal. Cho is the most active author with a total of 18 publications, while Millar is the author with the most citations per article. shoulder pain, ultrasound-guided, physiotherapy, etc. were the most commonly used keywords. Conclusion The literature on frozen shoulder research is increasing, but there is still a lack of cooperation among countries, institutions and authors. Pain management of frozen shoulder, ultrasound-guided nerve block therapy, physical therapy, and diabetes are among the hot topics. PRP treatment, Mendelian randomization studies and high-quality randomized controlled studies are the directions of future research.
