Abstract

Background: Despite the World Health Organization's ambitious goal to eradicate tuberculosis by 2035, the three key indicators of the End TB Strategy have yet to reach their targets. Improving the quality of care is a critical factor in achieving better health outcomes. In Indonesia, both government and private hospitals are involved in enhancing the quality of tuberculosis services. Methods: This study employs a mixed-method approach to assess the quality of tuberculosis care in public and private hospitals in Karawang District. The evaluation framework combines the High-Quality Health System (HQHS) and the Quality of Tuberculosis Service Assessment (QTSA). Primary data were collected through questionnaires and in-depth interviews with stakeholders, healthcare providers, and patients. Secondary data were gathered from tuberculosis patient visit records and tuberculosis control reports. Results: The study reveals that low success rates in tuberculosis treatment, increased patient loss to follow-up, lack of evaluation, patient’s satisfication are consequences of structural problems and inadequate care systems foundational aspects such as budgeting, policy dissemination, and the establishment of internal and external networks face significant challenges. patient’s positive experience and access to follow up care have a significant impact on patient’s satification. Conclusion: Enhancing the foundational elements of the tuberculosis health system and implementing a sustainable, integrated treatment approach will lead to increased treatment success rate, improved treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction.
