Abstract

In this study, several regression models were employed to estimate global solar radiation from commonly available meteorological data such as temperature, for meteorological stations of samara city Afar region..A location's solar radiation availability is a crucial consideration when choosing the right solar energy system and accessories for a range of uses. The greatest and lowest temperatures recorded at Samara City (11..81°N, 41.16°E), over a five-year period (2013–2017) were utilized to create Angstrom-type regression equations, or models, for calculating the total solar radiation that Samara City received on a horizontal surface. In order to determine the effectiveness of the models, the correlation results were also checked for errors using statistical test methods such as mean bias error (MBE), root mean square error (RMSE), and mean percentage error (MPE). It was found that temperature data can be applied to calculate the total amount of solar radiation incident on a Samara City, with a very reasonable degree of precision.
