The cloud manufacturing production mode for personalization has become the future direction of manufacturing. Workflow systems are highly regarded for conforming to the product-driven production mode. However, today's workflow systems are characterized by a low degree of flexibility and insufficient responsiveness in the face of diverse and personalized productions. Therefore, in order to address highly flexible and intelligent customized production and service preparation, this paper presents an automated workflow system. We design an automated workflow system to improve the efficiency of customized production in a new model from the traditional workflow architecture. In this way, it solves the problem that traditional workflow systems are not able to adapt themselves to service preparation in today's cloud manufacturing service crowd. Second, in order to make the process definition support the change of business requirements and improve the efficiency and accuracy, this paper designs the implementation framework of an automatic process definition and validation tool. A flexible dimensionality enhancement method based on meta mapping is proposed, which is able to enhance a 2D process information model to a 3D business process model. The process definition is validated and optimized during production generation time, and the product analysis is instantiated for completeness at runtime. Finally, this paper describes a methodology for integrating an automated workflow system into a production line and presents a reference implementation of the automated workflow system with an example of a customized product. The paper evaluates the system from both business process generation and product production perspectives, thereby demonstrating the improvement of the approach proposed in this paper for customized production.
