Abstract

Common vetch, or Vicia sativa , is an essential forage legume crop used for livestock production and as a green manure crop. In 2022, fusarium wilt symptoms were observed in vetch fields in Constantine province (Northeastern Algeria). The affected plants showed wilting, yellowing of leaves, vascular discoloration of roots and stems and plant death. Morphological and molecular analysis of two recovered isolates confirmed their identity as Fusarium redolens , these isolates were found to be pathogenic on vetch plants. This study represents the first report of F. redolens as a pathogen on Vicia sativa causing fusarium wilt.
