Abstract

Inductive power transfer (IPT) systems, when integrated with photovoltaic (PV) generation, traditionally necessitate the inclusion of a DC-DC converter to uncouple the generation and transmission stages. This conventional approach requires dual converters: one dedicated to PV's MPPT and the other to adjust the IPT's operational point, raising system costs and complexity. Thus, this study examines a system composed of a PV directly attached to an SS IPT using a single buck-boost converter for control purposes. The operational points of PV-IPT are described in terms of resistance values. Findings indicate that the implemented MPPT control identifies an intermediate operational point between the PV and IPT power peaks. Experimental data was acquired using a 100 W PV. The overall efficiency was mainly constrained by the IPT's efficiency, with experimental observations indicating maximum transferred power and overall efficiency of about 40 W and 60%, respectively.
