Abstract

The study focuses on evaluating the presence of heavy metals in sediments samples from the Arabian Gulf, collected in December 2023. Utilizing inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS, the concentrations of various heavy metals were determined. Notably, the average concentration of iron (Fe) exceeds 5000 mg/kg. Other metals such as chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn) exhibit concentrations within acceptable limits. However, arsenic (As) concentration averages around 22 mg/kg. Moreover, concentrations of silver (Ag) and cadmium (Cd) slightly exceed the recommended levels.
