Abstract

The article discusses the problem of waste disposal of basalt fiber-based mineral insulation materials formed during the production of thermal insulation materials. Taking into account the environmental and economic challenges, the authors propose a chemical method for processing these wastes to produce a mineral powder suitable for use in construction, in particular, in the production of asphalt concrete. The technological scheme of processing is given, the optimal composition of the components (waste, water, electrolyte) and the process conditions are determined. The chemical and mineralogical composition of the raw materials and the resulting powder are investigated, laboratory tests are carried out confirming its suitability as an active filler. The chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the raw waste and resulting product are analyzed using XRD, SEM-EDS, and standard physical tests. The proposed technology provides a significant reduction in waste volumes, reducing the burden on landfills and sustainable use of resources.
