Abstract

In the digital age, the relationship between sports audiences and major leagues is increasingly shaped by emerging forms of communication. This paper examines how daily digital newsletters transform the experience of following professional basketball, particularly the NBA. These newsletters provide timely, curated, and interactive content that strengthens the connection between fans, coaches, and the global basketball community, moving beyond the traditional broadcast model. The study highlights the role of digital newsletters not only as sources of information on game results but also as valuable tools for educating coaches, introducing innovations in training methods, and disseminating the latest developments in sports science and practice. Using Breakthrough Basketball as a case study—an online platform that offers drills, plays, strategies, and cutting-edge coaching materials—this contribution sheds light on how micro-content in digital sports media bridges theoretical knowledge and practical coaching applications. The paper invites discussion on how digital micro-content reshapes sports fandom, professional coaching practices, and communication within the sports ecosystem.
