Antimicrobial drug resistant has recently become a burden and challenging not only locally in Uganda but also to the global health systems and the pharmaceutical industry world over. This is mainly attributed to the misuse of antibiotics by the population. This is mainly where antibiotics are taken to treat viral or fungal infections where they completely have no effect, under dose, taking antimicrobials for pain or where they are completely unnecessary. Gonorrhoea is one of the common sexually transmitted infections that has recently become resistant to the commonly used antibiotics against it like ciprofloxacin and cefexime. This resistance is commonly attributed to the misuse of these drugs most especially where people self medicate and end up taking under dose which eventually results in resistance.
