Abstract

Minimally cardiac surgery invasive is a proposed technique which is gaining ground in being the favorite of cardiothoracic surgeons to present a greater benefit for patients who undergo this procedure offering improvements such as shorter hospitalization time, shorter recovery time, reduce patient costs, better pain control, less trauma, better aesthetic result, among others; without reducing the effectiveness of the surgery and the result of the treatment, demonstrating the importance of this case to expose all the virtues of a surgical technique which there are no publications about this procedure, cementing the research of the same in the south of the country. Clinical Case: 28 old female patient yearfrom Loja, comes to the cardiology service for presenting dyspnea accompanied by syncope, on physical examination a is auscultated meso systolic heart murmur in the left sternal border so complementary examinations are performed (echocardiogram and transesophageal echocardiogram) and after evaluation an interatrial septal defect ostium is diagnosed. secundum of 47 millimeters in diameter without anterior, posterior and inferior borders Conclusions: in conclusion, minimally invasive surgical approaches should be performed more frequently as a therapeutic option to replace sternotomy or as an alternative to the option percutaneous in young and adult patients, taking into account the aesthetic advantages for the patient, as well as the reduction of economic costs for the patient by reducing days of hospitalization or care in a patient without complications; taking into account that its use does not increase the risk of complications or death in patients who undergo it. The disadvantages of the use of this technique would be the skill of the professional surgeon to reduce the possibilities of complications or surgical risks which may affect younger patients in their breast development in female patients.
