Abstract: As one of the main drugs used in the treatment of bacterial diarrhea, natural products have shown significant advantages in the treatment of bacterial diarrhea course, which is characterized by multi-targeting, low induced resistance, and safety. Currently, finding natural products to replace antibiotics has become a hot spot in the field of medical research. More and more studies have found that the irrational use and extensive use of antibiotics will lead to the emergence of antibiotic resistance problems in bacteria, which ultimately causes the deterioration of the therapeutic effect of related drugs on diseases. Among them, the limitations of antibiotics on the treatment of bacterial diarrhea and the therapeutic mechanism of natural products on bacterial diarrhea are the focus of this paper. Natural products have a variety of bioactive substances can not only directly inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria, bacterial cell membrane synthesis and toxin secretion, but also regulate the inflammatory response, enhance the immune function, repair the intestinal barrier and rebuild the ecology of the intestinal flora, which reflects a systemic and multi-targeted intervention characteristics. Therefore, this paper will specifically describe how natural products treat bacterial diarrhea from three aspects: the pathogen and pathogenic mechanism of bacterial diarrhea, the study of natural product extracts, and the mechanism of action of natural products, and put forward the proposal of replacing antibiotics with corresponding natural products.
