This study investigates the critical challenges associated with sustainable forest management in rural regions, emphasizing the integration of natural resources into rural enterprises. It scrutinizes the environmental and technological obstacles that impede the transition from wood-fuel-based products to cleaner alternatives, which contribute to CO₂ emissions. The research employs qualitative methodologies, including field observations, interviews, and secondary data sources from rural Zambia, with insights spanning from 2016 to the most recent findings in 2024. Although clean energy technologies, such as solar power and clean cooking solutions, present potential advantages for rural households, their effectiveness in significantly reducing methane and other greenhouse gas emissions remain uncertain. The findings highlight the imperative for comprehensive emission monitoring, the development of adaptive strategies tailored to local contexts, and policy-driven interventions to ensure sustainability. Additionally, emerging technologies, such as AI-driven monitoring systems, offer promising prospects for enhancing the precision and scalability of emissions tracking. By reinforcing the connection between entrepreneurial initiatives, sustainable forestry, and emissions reduction, this study contributes to global efforts to combat climate change in rural settings.
