Abstract

The application of high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) is increasing in the ore industries, due to the advanced technology of this type of comminuting. There are important parameters in this device which have more effects on the productivity. One of the main reasons for damage of the rolls and consequently decrease the productivity and efficiency of the machine is wear of the surface. It is important to know carefully this phenomenon and try to control it as much as possible by readjusting and optimizing the effective parameters. In this research, the wear mechanism of HPGR rolls in the iron ore concentrate in a selected production line was investigate, the obtained results indicated that greater wear of the center of the rolls and reducing of the rolls life is due to changes of chemical and physical properties of the incoming iron ore in comparison with the design condition, failure to perform appropriate mechanical adjustment and improper repair and maintenance.
