Abstract

: Background/Objectives: The paper investigates digital leadership in primary education, focusing on the digital competencies and views of teachers' leadership in West Greece. Its main purpose is to research how different styles of leadership affect teachers' satisfaction and the adoption of digital practices and to find out the gaps in digital skills among educators; Methods: A quantitative research design was adopted, whereby a structured survey was administered to 105 primary school teachers. Multiple statistical analyses were carried out to explore the relationships between leadership styles, demographic factors, and digital competencies with a special focus on transformational leadership; Results: These results show that transformational leadership significantly influences teachers' satisfaction and the adoption of digital leadership practices, which indicates its critical role in fostering digital transformation within schools. There is a considerable gap in teachers' digital competencies, which implies a real need for the development of specific skills in this respect. Concerning the demographic variables, neither gender nor age had any significant relation with the leadership styles, while postgraduate education showed a positive association with more advanced leadership practices; Conclusions: This could be considered a very important leadership role of school directors in driving digital transformation and an argument for professional development programs in bridging the digital skills gap among teachers. This research, therefore, provides a call for expanded studies to offer more holistic insights on effective digital leadership in education, in support of high-performance digital education ecosystems.
