Abstract

This integrative review aimed to analyze the efficacy of mesotherapy in the treatment of alopecia, with emphasis on clinical effects, substances used, and therapeutic safety. The search was conducted in the PubMed and Cochrane Library databases in May 2025, considering publications from 2020 to 2025 in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Original studies evaluating mesotherapy as the primary or adjunctive intervention for alopecia were included. Duplicate articles, theoretical papers, protocols, and opinion pieces were excluded. Of the total records, 12 studies met the eligibility criteria. The results showed that the most effective protocols involved the combination of mesotherapy with minoxidil, PRP, or growth factors, promoting significant improvement in hair density and shaft thickness. The most commonly used substances were vitamins, minoxidil, and PRP, with intradermal administration being the predominant route. Most studies had a follow-up period of less than 16 weeks and did not report relevant adverse effects, except for one case of dutasteride-induced alopecia areata. It is concluded that, despite the positive outcomes observed, mesotherapy still requires protocol standardization and larger-scale studies to confirm its long-term effectiveness.
