Abstract

Utilizing distortionless power frequency AC-AC converters which drives by a compensated signal based on the DC link voltage value opens wide opportunities and has a significant positive economic effect. This publication briefly reveals the opportunities and provides the real actual measured oscillograms and oscillograms of the simulation model.

The distortionless converter control system eliminates the effects of AC ripple contained in the DC link voltage that is influenced to the AC converter output AC voltage. As a result, the AC converter is able to function without the need for a large-capacitance smoothing capacitor, phase-shifting transformers, or AFE (Active Rectifier), without increasing the THD level.

The reference AC waveform is divided by an amplitude DC link voltage value and the resultant ratio value is applied to control the duty factor of a PWM signal, that controls a DC-to-AC converter circuit.
