Abstract

This article examines the intricate dynamics between global governance structures and national interests within the field of international relations (IR). As globalization intensifies, states increasingly face the challenge of balancing their sovereignty with adherence to international norms and institutions. This study utilizes various theoretical frameworks, including realism, liberalism, and constructivism, to analyze how global issues—such as climate change, security threats, and human rights—impact state behavior and international cooperation. Employing a mixed-methods approach that integrates case studies and empirical analysis, the research reveals the complex negotiations states engage in to reconcile competing interests. Ultimately, the findings underscore the necessity for adaptive policies that consider both global imperatives and national priorities, offering valuable insights for future diplomatic strategies.
