Abstract
Surrogate neutralization assays for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) that can be done without biosafety level 3 containment and in multiple species are desirable. We evaluate a recently developed surrogate virus neutralization test (sVNT) in comparison to 90% plaque reduction neutralization tests (PRNT 90 ) in human, canine, cat, and hamster sera. With PRNT 90 as the reference, sVNT had sensitivity of 98.9% and specificity of 98.8%. Using a panel of immune sera corresponding to other coronaviruses, we confirm the lack of cross-reactivity to other coronaviruses in SARS-CoV-2 sVNT and PRNT 90 , except for cross-reactivity to SARS-CoV-1 in sVNT.

Antibodies Sentences Resources ELISA testing for antibody in other animal species requires assays to be re-optimized with the relevant species-specific anti-Ig-conjugate for detecting immunoglobulins of each species. anti-Ig-conjugatesuggested: NoneThis assay would be of great utility as a species independent assay for primary testing for SARS-CoV antibodies in humans of animals or for independent confirmati of sera giving positive ELISA antibody results. SARS-CoVsuggested: NoneData from additional tools added to each annotation on a weekly basis.
About SciScore
SciScore is an automated tool that is designed to assist expert reviewers by finding and presenting formulaic information scattered throughout a paper in a standard, easy to digest format. SciScore is not a substitute for expert review. SciScore checks for the presence and correctness of RRIDs (research resource identifiers) in the manuscript, and detects sentences that appear to be missing RRIDs. SciScore also checks to make sure that rigor criteria are addressed by authors. It does this by detecting sentences that discuss criteria such as blinding or power analysis. SciScore does not guarantee that the rigor criteria that it detects are appropriate for the particular study. Instead it assists authors, editors, and reviewers by drawing attention to sections of the manuscript that contain or should contain various rigor criteria and key resources.
