Results from LimitationRecognizer: We detected the following sentences addressing limitations in the study:4.7 Limitations of this work and potential future extensions: In this study we investigated three countries: Luxembourg, Austria with a similar dynamics, and Sweden having a different dynamics. While this already showcase a range of interesting situations, we could extend the model to other countries, in particular those with very different properties. In our cross-validation of the model calibration, we assumed flat prior probability distributions over a parameter space as wide as reasonably possible, cf. Sec. S7.2, in order to investigate the constraints on the parameters provided by the available data. A different set of priors could have been considered, e.g. Gaussian priors centered around the manually fit parameter values. Nevertheless, we didn’t perform this as we didn’t want to introduce bias in the Bayesian parameter estimate meant to provide crossvalidation of the manually calibrated parameter set. The likelihood function we built from the sum of square residuals attribute the same weight to all time-series data. While this choice is the simplest, it is not unique and more complex weighting approaches could have been considered. Moreover, we should stress here that our model projections, while potentially accurate in the short term, for longer time-periods are to be intended as a way to compare potential scenarios and gain in-sight.
